Hiy'u m, meaning "bear" in Nez Perce, is a slightly smaller than life-size head study of a Black Bear. This exquisite table top piece sits steadily on its base: a beautiful expression of style on a mantel, sofa table or end table.

The Nez Perce Indians were close to nature, the Earth was like a mother that gave them the things they needed for life. Before becoming an adult, a young Nez Perce would go out to the mountains alone to pray and fast and would seek a special guardian for their protection throughout life. The guardian spirit often took shape in the fortitude of a bear.  P: 307. 272.6994  F: 360.285.1801  POB 923, Cody, WY 82414  © 2005 Wildlife Studio  © Design 2005 SageBrush Studios
